Agathos supports Targeted Provision to acquire ASEND

Agathos is excited to announce the acquisition of ASEND by its portfolio company Targeted Provision at a pivotal point in the business’s journey and growth, uniting two leaders in Alternative Provision and creating a partnership uniquely positioned to elevate standards and extend impactful support to vulnerable young people across the UK.

Targeted Provision – a market-leading provider of trauma-informed educational provision to vulnerable children across the UK – has consistently championed higher standards in Alternative Provision, setting the benchmark for accountability in supporting society’s most vulnerable young people. ASEND is a leader in driving inclusive education in schools and providing bespoke educational support for young people with complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (“SEND”).

ASEND’s expertise in delivering high-quality, child-centred, inclusive provision aligns perfectly with this commitment to deliver positive outcomes for young people. Combined with Targeted Provision’s technology-led proposition, this acquisition enables the business to expand ASEND’s reach quickly and safely and reach every young person, school or local authority who needs support.

James Bakewell, Skye Ranicar and Katie Beck assisted Chris Kneale-Jones and the team at Targeted Provision with this acquisition. James Bakewell, Partner at Agathos commented: “We are thrilled to support the partnership between Targeted Provision and ASEND, enhancing the reach and impact of vital services for vulnerable young people across the UK. Bringing together two leaders in Alternative Provision, we believe this collaboration holds tremendous potential to bridge critical gaps for young people with complex needs through high-quality, tailored support.”

Chris Kneale-Jones, Founder and CEO of Targeted Provision stated, “ASEND is a phenomenal, values-driven business, and what unites us is our shared commitment to inclusive provision for the UK’s most vulnerable young people. Together we are now able to reach young people with a wider range of needs across more regions, while continuing to raise the bar for standards in Alternative Provision. This partnership amplifies our impact, and together we remain persistent in our mission to provide every young person with the bespoke support they deserve.”

Barbara Ball, Founder of ASEND said: “ASEND and Targeted Provision share a deep commitment to improving the lives of young people through tailored educational provision, whether they are in or out of school. By joining forces, we can now expand our reach and impact, ensuring even more young people receive the specialised provision they need. This acquisition brings together two of the most respected names in Alternative Provision and enhancing inclusive provision, allowing us to deliver the best possible outcomes for the young people we serve”.
