Agathos supports Simply Sustainable to acquire Carbon Responsible

Agathos is pleased to announce the acquisition of Carbon Responsible by portfolio company Simply Sustainable, bringing together two complementary sustainability solutions providers to create a market leading, end-to-end platform that will support organisations on their sustainability journeys.

Carbon Responsible is a provider of carbon management and accounting solutions. It supports organisations to measure, manage and reduce their environmental impact through data-driven insight and practical action. Its strengths in high-volume carbon footprinting, accounting and assurance align closely with Simply Sustainable’s ESG and sustainability advisory expertise within carbon measurement, strategy and reporting.

The combined business will offer clients an expanded suite of services spanning carbon accounting and emissions management, sustainability targets and strategy, data and analytics, sustainability reporting, and communications. The group will support organisations that are navigating rapidly evolving regulatory requirements, including SECR, TCFD and the forthcoming UK Sustainability Reporting Standards.

The acquisition is the first bolt-on for Simply Sustainable since Agathos’s investment in December 2022 and reflects the dual-track organic and acquisition value creation strategy. Under the leadership of CEO Alastair MacGregor, Simply Sustainable has built strong commercial momentum and a clear strategic direction, and Agathos is thrilled to be backing Alastair and the team as they take this important next step. It supports Simply Sustainable’s ambition to become a quality-led, integrated sustainability group and is consistent with Agathos’s focus on backing growth businesses operating in markets with strong regulatory tailwinds.
