About the business
Cargostore Worldwide is a leading global supplier of DNV and ISO certified containers, generating revenue through a combination of container leasing and sales.
The business supplies specialist equipment to offshore and onshore B2B projects across a wide range of industries, including offshore wind, oil and gas, mining, catering, stability and humanitarian aid. With a globally mobile fleet and high-specification equipment, Cargostore supports complex projects in challenging operating environments worldwide.
Our partnership
Agathos partnered with Cargostore following its acquisition in a complex pre-pack transaction, working closely with management to stabilise the business and implement an ambitious value creation plan.
The partnership has focused on building a more resilient and scalable platform, supporting international expansion, strengthening Cargostore’s position in offshore wind, and preparing the business for subsequent phases of ownership and growth.
Value added by Agathos
Value creation has focused on scaling the business, expanding geographic reach and broadening capability:
- Delivery of a comprehensive value creation plan, growing the business to £4m profitability within four years
- Successful partial realisation through the sale of a majority stake to clients of Connection Capital in a £24m transaction in 2020, while retaining a minority stake to support the next phase of growth
- Expansion into five new international territories, including South East Asia, Africa and South America
- Continued strengthening of Cargostore’s leadership position in the offshore wind sector
- Completion of the acquisitions of Reftrade UK and Environstore in 2025, adding ATEX-approved reefers and DNV-accredited skips and deepening capability in hazardous and decommissioning environments
Together, these initiatives have strengthened Cargostore’s position as a global supplier of specialist container solutions supporting complex offshore and onshore projects worldwide.
